Hutto is a city in Williamson County, Texas, located in the eastern part of the county within the Austin-Round Rock metropolitan area, about 25 miles northeast of downtown Austin. According to the best-known local legend, a circus train stopped in Hutto in 1915, and during the stop a hippopotamus escaped into nearby Cottonwood Creek.
