Kelly McGowen
Real Estate Agent
One of her greatest passions is photography. She was fortunate to spend many years working in the film industry in Los Angeles, serving as a Camera Assistant on major feature films like Dirty Dancing, as well as on television commercials and music videos.
Later in her career, a chance conversation with a film colleague led her down a new path—into the world of real estate.
She went on to spend 12 incredible years as a Real Estate Agent with Sotheby’s International Realty, before making a major life change in 2019: relocating from Los Angeles to Texas to be closer to family in San Antonio. While she had often advised sellers about the emotional and physical challenges of moving, she truly came to understand its magnitude when she personally moved herself, her sister, and her sister’s guide dog halfway across the country.
She experienced firsthand the layered stresses of relocation—the logistical demands and the emotional toll of leaving behind a home, friends, and a familiar city. But over time, and through the grounding presence of family, the transition became a successful and fulfilling one.
So what does a Californian see in Texas? For her, Texas feels a lot like Hollywood in its early days—full of dreamers taking bold chances. People are moving here from all over the country in pursuit of something bigger: economic opportunity, innovation, entrepreneurship, and the promise of homeownership. To her, Texas is the new frontier.
And once she arrived, she fell in love—with the green rolling hills, the unmistakable humor of Texans, and, of course, Buc-ee’s.
What brings her the most joy? When clients tell her they still love their home, years after moving in. She’s deeply driven to help buyers and sellers in both Texas and California—and especially those making Texas their new home—take the next step toward living their dream of homeownership. #LetsGoTakeALook
